Project background The ncapsolutions’ project was initiated in January 2003 under the EU-Research Growth Programme of the 5th FP focusing on the setting up of the Virtual Institute [1] on Bio- and Microencapsulation Science & technology. The project is funded by the EU (G7RT-CT-2002-05105) for a maximum period of three years. During this period the Virtual Institute should establish a sufficiently stable business, in order to allow its operation to be continued after the end of the funding period. ncapsolutions’ structure Fifteen partners have already joined in the network which goal is to integrate European expertise in the field of Microencapsulation. The Virtual Institute will be soon incorporated as a non-profit International Association (AISBL) under the Belgian law. Its members will be the participants to the actual European project . The AISBL will be managed by a General Assembly and a Steering Committee. ncapsolutions’ objective ncapsolutions’ objective is to promote the development of Bio&MicroEncapsulation in the industrial and the academic domains at European and international level. ncapsolutions will promote and support collaboration between RTD performers to lead microencapsulation market and business development, in particular :
